This esoteric collection of poetry delves deep into my own personal desire to discover identity in an increasingly cynical world. Each poem strives to take you on a sensual journey through the mysterious wilderness and colourful dream worlds, sometimes uncovering fear and uncertainty inside the subconscious mind, but ultimately opening up lighter layers of hope. When I first began writing 'Naked' I was experiencing high levels of anxiety, feeling extremely alone and dis-attuned with the rest of the world. However through practicing yoga, and therefore becoming much more grounded in my body, I actually felt my heart surrendering further into naked, abstract worlds. Opening up my imagination in new ways, to create a deliberately chaotic story, with the soul intention of encouraging readers to fall back into their undiscovered feelings, as opposed to hastily pushing for more. This then became the main focus throughout each poem; teaching my hands to dance in sync with my emotions to communicate love, pain, loneliness, passion, longing and bittersweet memories of innocence. Confident that the fluid movement process of these emotions alone, complimented by delicate subtlety of word and illustration, would inspire readers to listen and dream, sometimes dis-attaching from outer worlds in order to re-establish a more intimate and wider understanding of their vulnerable inner selves. A self that I for one will never completely understand, yet through writing, reading aloud, deepening and simplifying my poetry, I hope that I can look back on this book one day and feel satisfied by all that I had to give.
