I found myself up at Orchardleigh Estate today while the kids were at the driving range, and it’s such a peaceful place to sit for a while. Even on a drizzly Saturday it’s looking pretty lovely.

Our meandering photographer set out this morning with a decidedly heavy heart. His walking boots were laced over three pairs of socks; thermal long johns, Gore-Tex base layer, heavy-duty shirt and fleece all stacked beneath a hooded coat wrapped so tightly he could barely move. And still, none of it could ward off the creeping dread of a classic wet Mendip Sunday. 🌧️🥶
Stepping onto Catherine Street like a bullfighter entering the arena, he braced himself - but nothing could have prepared him for the true peril ahead: umbrellas. Umbrellas coming at him from every direction. More than once, he narrowly avoided losing an eye to a rogue strut. ☂️😂
He dived left, ducked right, peered over them, crawled under them - and just as he felt he’d finally mastered the ancient art of umbrella-dodging…the rain stopped.
Here’s hoping it was a brilliant day for traders and shoppers alike!
